Recycling is a key component of our environmental mission and an important part of our business and our lives.
Across Canada, two primary strategies are being used to recover beverage containers from the waste stream-mandatory deposit programs and comprehensive recycling programs. Deposit systems are much more costly for consumers and target only 2% of the waste stream. Comprehensive collection systems, like curbside recycling 'Blue Box' or 'blue bag' programs, are more cost-effective, more convenient for consumers, and recover all paper and packaging waste including newsprint, cardboard, aluminum, glass, plastic and paper packages. The refreshment beverage industry continues to work to improve existing recycling efforts across the country.
